Looking for volunteers: Haodoo Blog Management Team

Haodoo is looking for a few volunteers to be part of our blog management team and help us migrate the old blogs on the website to the new WordPress blogging platform.

Q: What are we planning to do?

A: The Haodoo website currently hosts several blogs from way back, and we would like to preserve them by migrating the blog entries to the new WordPress platform. The blog management team will move the blog entries by cutting-and-pasting content. The more modern CMS platform will eventually replace the old website, so we want to migrate the blog before the last minute.

Q: What technical qualifications are required for this type of work?

A: We will use the WordPress.com web app to manage the blogs. If you have previously worked with WordPress, this web app should be easy to navigate. If you have no experience with WordPress, the web app is easy to learn and pick up. Computer platforms do not matter, as Windows and macOS should work fine with WordPress.

Q: What non-technical qualifications are required for this type of work?

More importantly, we ask volunteers to have a relaxed and professional attitude. At Haodoo, we are all volunteers, including the webmaster. When working on projects with Haodoo, we hope everyone will maintain a sense of personal accomplishment and strive for quality interactions with the community and each other.

Also, all communications between the blog team members will take place mainly in English. Please be sure that you are comfortable with this arrangement.

Q: That sounds reasonable. What else do I need to know?

At Haodoo, we do not have quotas to meet. Sure, we have deadlines, so projects will not take forever. If you need some time to get up and running on WordPress, we don’t mind. If you commit to a project goal, we ask you to stick with it or let us know sooner rather than later if we need to adjust.

Q: OK, I am interested. What do I need to do?

A: Create a WordPress account with two-step authentication enabled. Email David at support@haodoo.net and express your interest in helping. David will contact you and get your WordPress account connected to Haodoo’s blog. Afterward, we will discuss which blog to migrate, and you will go to work on the project.

Thanks for reading and your interest in helping Haodoo. We look forward to hearing from you.
